Description
An interesting World War II multi-censored air mail cover sent from Air Force P.O. No. 71, Queensland and addressed to Naval Reserve Depot, Williamstown, Victoria. The Active Service envelope is franked with Australia Scott #171, the 4 pence Koala stamp from the 1937-46 series. The stamp is tied to the cover by an Air Force P.O. No. 71, QLD, AUST. postmark dated December 1, 1943. There is a Queenscliff, VIC postmark dated December 8, 1943. Censor tape on left end ("3 Opened by Censor") tied to cover by diamond shaped censor marking ("3 PASSED BY CENSOR 256"). An oval "R.A.A.F. CENSOR 262" hand stamp. This cover measures 152mm x 102mm.
